One’s-Self I Sing. by Walt Whitman

ONE’S-SELF I sing—a simple, separate Person;
Yet utter the word Democratic, the word En-masse.

Of Physiology from top to toe I sing;
Not physiognomy alone, nor brain alone, is worthy for the muse—I say the
Form complete is worthier far;
The Female equally with the male I sing.

Of Life immense in passion, pulse, and power,
Cheerful—for freest action form’d, under the laws divine,
The Modern Man I sing.

Favorite Poem! >> Poets To Come >> Walt Whitman

Poets to come! orators, singers, musicians to come!
Not to-day is to justify me and answer what I am for,
But you, a new brood, native, athletic, continental, greater than
before known,
Arouse! for you must justify me.
I myself but write one or two indicative words for the future,
I but advance a moment only to wheel and hurry back in the darkness.
I am a man who, sauntering along without fully stopping, turns a
casual look upon you and then averts his face,
Leaving it to you to prove and define it,
Expecting the main things from you.

Walt Whitman!

Walt Whitman an American poet, essayist and journalist.He was a romantics poet. He wrote about life, love, and people being people.

Big City, or Small Town

-I would choose the small town. In small towns everyone knows everyone. In the big city. Everyday you walk around where 95% of the people around you, you ave no idea who they are. In a small town it's peaceful. Not very many travelers, and there is most likely not a huge, loud highway going through the middle of town. In the big city many people might travel there for vacation. And in the middle of the night you might fall asleep to sirens on the highway rather than the sound of crickets in your back yard.

-Some people do enjoy the sound of the sirens and the rush of the city. Some people can't stand it being quiet. But not me. What would you choose?

Sophomore Year (:

Sophomore Year. I was expecting Freshmen year all over again. Not saying Freshmen year was bad, but it was different than this year (so far). Everyone has new friends. The people who were friends all through middle school now hate each other. The friends last year have no classes together this year so their all making new friends. It's not different just by everyone making new friends but it's different because we have new teachers, & new expectations. Also this year I'm going to have to study. The test year are a lot harder than last year. This year I also want to make more "mini goals" for myself. Goals to help me reach that one ultimate goal. I also want to do well with my athletics this year. Not only that but I want to have fun hanging out with my friends and make my high school memories last. Because before I know it year 2014 is going to be here.
